Project Overview: Japanese Ramen Shop Design – A Taste of Happiness in Every Bowl

The client for this project is a Japanese owner who wishes to share a bowl of heartwarming ramen with the people of Taiwan. The shop’s signature dish is a richly flavored chicken paitan ramen, simmered over many hours. The golden oil droplets floating atop the broth inspired the entire color palette of the space.

​

At the entrance, the feature wall is finished with textured art paint and golden accents that symbolize the richness of the broth. The surrounding walls are covered with cement-pattern wallpaper, keeping the space minimal yet visually engaging.

The open kitchen and bar seating area allow guests to witness the cooking process, emphasizing food transparency and reinforcing trust in the quality and hygiene of the ingredients. Above, the high ceiling showcases a scenic mural of Yokohama— the owner’s hometown — serving as a nostalgic backdrop that enhances the dining experience.

As the shop’s slogan suggests, this is a “Little Workshop of Earnest Brilliance.” Customers are invited not only to enjoy a bowl of ramen but to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of sincerity, simplicity, and warmth.
