Bridgestone Commercial Vehicle Service Center Renovation

Commercial Space Design × Lighting Design × Traditional Industry Brand Transformation

In the transformation of traditional industries, retail spaces are no longer just service areas—they have become a critical extension of a company’s brand identity and competitiveness.

In this project, Woosha Design was commissioned to renovate a Bridgestone commercial vehicle service center. The goal was not simply to refurbish a single location, but to establish a replicable and scalable commercial space design standard within the company’s corporate system.

Located in Qingshui, Taichung, the Mengfeng branch serves as the first standardized flagship store for Bridgestone’s truck and bus service network. Our focus was to elevate a conventional repair station into a branded service hub with a strong corporate identity, driving the transformation of a traditional industry brand.

Creating Design Value Within Corporate Standards

Renovating chain-operated service centers requires balancing brand consistency, uninterrupted operations, and budget control.

Through on-site evaluation, we identified common issues in long-running traditional stores:

Poor storage planning and inefficient circulation, affecting service efficiency
Underutilized waiting areas lacking brand experience
Outdated equipment and exposed wiring, reducing safety and professionalism

Through a comprehensive commercial space redesign, we established clear service circulation and storage systems, restoring spatial order. At the same time, Bridgestone’s signature red was translated into a distinct and recognizable design language.

Lighting Strategy｜Accurately Presenting Brand Red

In the automotive and tire industry, red is a powerful symbol of brand identity. However, most retail lighting focuses only on brightness, overlooking a critical factor—the R9 color rendering index, which determines how accurately saturated reds are displayed.

In this project, all lighting fixtures—from panel lights and downlights to linear strips—were specified with:

CRI (Ra) > 90
R9 > 50

R9 measures the rendering quality of saturated red tones. When insufficient, brand red can appear dull or desaturated, weakening its visual impact.

By implementing high color-rendering lighting, combined with Benjamin Moore high-saturation, ultra-durable coatings, the brand’s red is presented with consistency, precision, and depth—while also meeting long-term maintenance requirements.

The reception counter features Caesarstone quartz surfaces, offering durability, ease of maintenance, and a refined texture suitable for high-frequency commercial use.

Renovation While Operating｜A Key Capability for Enterprise Upgrades

One of the biggest challenges in retail renovation is maintaining operations without disrupting revenue.

This project was executed while the store remained fully operational. Through phased construction and careful circulation planning, we ensured uninterrupted service while simultaneously enhancing spatial quality and brand image.

After renovation, the transformation was evident:

A brighter, more open environment, approaching the quality of an automotive showroom
Clearer circulation, significantly improving operational efficiency
A more comfortable waiting area, enhancing the brand experience

The truck service center successfully evolved from a traditional repair shop into a branded service hub with strong corporate presence.
