Taichung Christmas 2024: “Taichung Lights Up” — A Wishing Tree Just for Taichung
For this year’s Taichung Christmas event — Taichung Lights Up — we set out to create a Christmas tree unlike any other.
Curated from the perspective of installation art, this large-scale outdoor exhibition breaks away from traditional shapes and instead presents the “Wishing Tree”, a symbol that reflects Taichung’s livable and welcoming spirit through light and sculptural form.
The main installation features a 13-meter-tall blue Christmas tree, its soft glow lighting up the night like Taichung’s clear evening sky — serene, comforting, and full of peace.
At the top of the tree, a luminous star installation mimics a shooting star streaking across the sky.
LED light strips extend from the star down to the ground, symbolizing the path of a wish coming true.
Floating orbs of light represent dreams being illuminated — carried forward by motion, light, and hope.
Next to the main installation, we designed the “Cloud Christmas Tree.”
Made with cloud-shaped forms and a collection of symbolic ornaments, this tree embodies Taichung’s spirit of diversity and inclusion.
Here, different cultures and values are not only seen, but also respected and celebrated.
Set against the backdrop of Taichung’s crisp night sky, a constellation of stars, moons, and clouds dance among the installations — creating a dialogue between festive joy and the city’s gentle charm.
This project combines installation art with curatorial thinking, transforming public space into an immersive experience through light, atmosphere, and story.
We’re deeply grateful to the Taichung City Government for inviting Woosha Design to participate in this meaningful event.
Our hope is that everyone who visits this space — under this starry sky — feels a sense of warmth, hope, and possibility for the future.
