In this project, we want to discuss the entire design process. The owner and his wife were very interesting clients. During the discussions, their participation provided us with many unique ideas, while still leaving space for the designers to express themselves. Our role was like a pair of hands, sketching out the images they had in mind, one stroke at a time.
The most distinctive feature of this store is the tree at the entrance, which people both love and hate. The reason for hating it is that the tree blocks the entire storefront, but the reason for loving it is that, with this tree, the whole store comes to life. The story of "Bierse" begins because of this tree.
The large glass at the entrance reflects the tree's shadow while allowing passersby to get a glimpse into the interior at first sight, attracting attention on the busy Songzhu Road. For the flooring, we chose unrefined concrete to showcase the natural beauty of the material. In the space, we used warm-toned red brick cultural stone as the background wall for the whole space.
The theme of the entire space is connected by three trees. The old camphor tree at the entrance, the floating tree inside the room, and the 9-meter tall tree created by 120 different grids. At the end of the visual space, there is a mezzanine and a sunken dining area, both of which add layers to the interior. Finally, for the colors and materials, we chose simple tones of white, dark gray, and bay blue to complement the space, and used wood grain and red brick materials to give the space warmth.
