Laboratory of the Future – Department Store Concept Counter
RhinoShield, a leading Taiwanese brand specializing in smartphone accessories, is built upon the core value of sustainability. From the very start, their phone cases are designed not just as products, but as future raw materials — establishing a full-circle ecosystem that reduces waste and minimizes the use of virgin plastic.
For RhinoShield’s first sustainable concept counter, Woosha Design took this philosophy to heart and created the "Laboratory of the Future" — a space where eco-conscious design meets technology.
Over 90% of the interior materials are either recyclable or made from recycled sources, including stainless steel, glass, and acrylic. Most notably, discarded RhinoShield phone cases were reprocessed and reinvented as architectural materials, embedded into walls and cabinetry to become the counter’s signature finish.
The feature wall is crafted from shredded phone cases, mixed with custom color ratios to strike a balance between visual appeal and material density. The mix is then hand-poured to create a unique, tactile surface.
At the reception counter, layers of yellow plastic masterbatches — each a different tone — are housed inside a glass case, forming a bold, dynamic display of RhinoShield’s brand color. These pellets are more than decor; they’re designed to return to the product lifecycle, embodying the brand’s commitment to sustainable waste reduction.
Display walls on both sides showcase a modular system for organizing and presenting products — from phone cases to straps and AirPods accessories. The drawers and compartments are paired with a custom labeling system, allowing staff to quickly identify, retrieve, and manage inventory with ease. This addresses a core issue in the smartphone accessory retail industry: stockroom chaos.
Woosha also designed interchangeable display components for various accessories like phone straps, earphones, watch bands, and future product lines — making this counter future-proof and scalable.
More than just a shopfront, this "RhinoShield Lab" embodies the brand’s spirit: innovation, exploration, and knowledge-sharing. Here, every purchase is not just a product — it’s a statement of shared values.
