"A place to pause, to gather with friends, where the aroma of exquisite Cantonese cuisine drifts far and wide—this is Yan Xiang Ting."

Design Concept:
Yan Xiang Ting is a new brand extension of the renowned Yan Xiang Lou, aiming to bring the world-class flavors of Cantonese cuisine from traditional banquet-style dining into approachable, small-plate offerings. The "Ting" (pavilion) becomes the design's central theme, evoking the relaxed and welcoming ambiance of a pavilion nestled within a serene mountain landscape.

Faced with the spatial constraints of a department store setting, we abstracted architectural elements of a traditional pavilion—eaves, name plaques, lanterns, and an open kitchen—and transformed them into a visually striking main wall. The bar counter and flooring feature winding lines reminiscent of mountain paths, while thin, classic Chinese pillars appear in the table and chair legs.

Material-wise, we integrated terrazzo and decorative Chinese window motifs, using a vibrant vermilion red—symbolizing “Yan” (flame)—as an accent color to bring warmth and cultural richness to the space.
